Rose Center — 2006

Description

When the Yale Police Department was looking for a new, larger home, they partnered with the members of the Dixwell neighborhood community and, with help from generous donors, created the Rose Center at 101 Ashmun Street. Dedicated in 2006, the Rose Center houses both the Yale Police Department headquarters and the Dixwell-Yale Community Learning Center (DYCLC), run by the Office of New Haven and State Affairs at Yale. The DYCLC offers free classes for adults and young people year round in its all-purpose meeting room and computer center. During the summer, the DYCLC provides a free day camp for neighborhood children. With the new Yale University Health Services building under construction next door and two new residential colleges soon to be built nearby, this neighborhood will be a showpiece of contemporary architecture.
