University Health Services Building — 2010

Description

Designed by Mack Scogin Merrill Elam Architects and set for completion in spring 2010, this four-story building at 55 Lock Street will be the new home to Yale University Health Services. Groundbreaking for the building, located on a formerly abandoned site behind the Grove Street Cemetery and adjacent to the Farmington Canal path, took place on June 30, 2008. The 143,000-square-foot facility will replace the current, overcrowded Yale Health Services Center on Hillhouse Avenue and provide updated facilities and expanded program and meeting space. It will also include a 323-space parking garage and a security substation. Among the medical enhancements will be a state-of-the-art radiology imaging center. The facility, which is expected to achieve a LEED Silver rating, incorporates grey brick, metal panel screen wall and glass curtain wall in its design.
