Rosenkranz Hall — 2009

Description

Set for completion in summer 2009, this building, designed by the Boston-based architectural firm Koetter Kim and Associates, will house faculty and staff members from the Political Science Department and the MacMillan Center for International and Area Studies at Yale, thus helping to consolidate programs that are currently spread across several buildings. The Jackson Institute of Global Affairs will occupy the first two floors of the building’s Prospect Street wing. In addition to offices, the 70,000-square-foot structure will include classrooms, student workspaces and breakout rooms.

Named for Robert Rosenkranz ‘62, the four-story limestone and glass structure was carefully designed to fit into its surrounding environment. A skylight and a north-facing glass atrium will allow natural light into the space and two bridges will connect it to the adjacent Luce Hall.
