The Anlyan Center — 2003

Description

Located at the corner of Congress Avenue and Cedar Street, the Anlyan Center for Medical Research and Education (TAC) offers 456,000 square feet of laboratory, research, classroom and office space for faculty and students at the Yale School of Medicine. The building’s brick, limestone and granite design was inspired by the textile mills that once dotted the region.

The Center is comprised of two wings connected by a central lobby. The four-story north wing holds classrooms, an auditorium, a student lounge, a state-of-the-art Gross Anatomy Lab and teaching labs; the larger south wing is devoted to research.

Today, the departments of Immunobiology, Genetics and Internal Medicine (including sections of cardiology, infectious diseases, digestive diseases, nephrology, pulmonary, rheumatology and endocrinology) all have laboratory space in the TAC south wing. In addition to laboratory space, TAC also provides core research resources and a magnetic resonance imaging center.
